Move aside Gator and Powerade...

... because Lin-ade has just joined the Tmt06 group!

Adeline Tan, an honors science student at the University of Melbourne has decided and gotten permission to join the Thailand Mission trip, and the group welcomes her with arms wide open.

"Ade's coming for the mission trip, while Ming closes her eyes and screams in horror" (edited slightly)

Adeline will be taking over Vinsant's job as Childrens Ministry coordinator, and Aaron's job as the Music coordinator. Both people did not seem to mind, and in fact seemed to experience an euphoria.

"Not that I wouldn't have minded having the job, but it does take a heavy burden off me as Adeline is really someone who is skilled in her ministry with children. I'm glad she's coming and I hope she serves God with all that she has, glorifying God where glory is due; as all of us should aim for as well" Vinsant said in a statement at his desk, while sketching random concepts for his final project.

Silence is a blessing

And sometimes really disconcerting, and depressing. I should know.

The weblog coordinator is having a headache Sunday night, so give him a break, and let him rest. He has a week of endless animating and 3D modelling and UT Scripting ahead of him, let him dream of his Eternal Sunshine and a rather spotful, but for the sake of poetry, a rather spotless mind to share it with.

He promises to update when he get sick of his animating, 3D modelling, UT Scripting, and incessant dreaming of the impossible.

Need an extra Fang?

I seriously wouldn't mind a pair, but then girls would really really stay far far away then =)

But in all seriousness and getting back to the point I meant to have in hand, Fangs are really really cool and you can do lots of things with them. Sink them into that irritating neighbours dog, gnash them about to tell people you mean business, and what feral lady can resist the shininess (or the matteness due to bloo...)... uh...

Whoops.

The point now at hand is that the Thai mission trip people have confirmed that we're going up to Fang (the place, two hours north of Chiang Mai and near the border) with a Singaporean missionary named Florence to visit the displaced (Dot's words) Chinese people.

Thank God for this oppurtunity, and pray we'll be able to share God's Love with them.

This should be interesting, and at least I have a chinese vocab in my arsenal, alongside those shiny new fangs...

Commentators?

I allowed Comments on this blog for a reason. So if you have something to say, please do feel free to comment. Feed us sweets, flame us, encourage us, put us down, whatever. Just make me feel like I'm not alone on this. =)

1st Corinthians 12:4-7

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

We all have a part to play in the body of Christ, and the same for our mission trip. Here's a small and basic run down of who is pretty much in charge of what.

---

Our Programs and Games Coordinator will be in charge of coordinating and scheduling PnG's (not Papua New Guinea's, use your brain!) that build strengthens the bonds that we have as a group. They are Dorothy, Raymond Seymour and Leigh.

First Aid is self-explanatory. If first aid or medical assistance is required, this person will be there to administer, or issue the necessary commands to preserve the wellbeing of those around us. This person is Ming.

Photos and Videos Coordinators will run amok trigger happy throughout the trip and before, to document our trip so that we may show what the conditions are, and to encourage people to take notice, and pray or take up missions themselves. PnV Coordinators are Aaron and Khai (Vinsant).

The Web Journal Coordinator... is doing what he's doing, so we shall leave him be.

Prayer and Devotions are necessary in the building of our foundation in Christ, and the coordinator is and will be responsible in scheduling Prayer Meetings, and delegating to the rest of us the task of giving encouraging devotions. She is Ming.

They say Music touches your very soul in ways words can never. Therefore the Music coordinator will deal with that aspect of our outreach to Thailand. Aaron is the go to guy for Music.

Jesus Loves the Little Children, so the Childrens Ministry Coordinator will have their hands full showing the little kids to Love Jesus as He has loved them. Khai, Raymond, and Leigh will do their very best to show the kids just how much God Loves them.

The handling of money is a taxing job to handle, but someone has got to do it. That someone is Louis. And since he's dealing with the money anyway, we figured he'd do a good job coordinating our fundraising efforts as well, as our Fundraiser Coordinator.

Where we go, and how we get there is something the logistics coordinator will figure out, and this important task has been handed to Aaron.

When we go to Thailand, we need to be mindful of their language, culture, and fashion sense. Who better then to help us be mindful of this than our resident Translator, Culture go-to-guy, and Fashion Police, Vut.

We pray, and sincerely ask you to pray for these individuals as they work together with the rest of the group to glorify God's name. Pray that God will strengthen us for His good deeds.

What Russel's Dad said...

"Don't come to my country if you can't speak the language! *puts phone down* Immigrants!"

I'm glad to say that we are steadily picking up the Thai language, although bear in mind that steadily doesn't mean we're doing it too well either. We're finding out new things each time we go through these lessons and we really really have Vut (Nathavut Wong) to thank for it.

We thank you and we really believe God has sent you as a blessing to we who want to bring God's shining light (that shouldn't be hidden under a bushel, NO!!!) to your home country. Thank you for putting up with our mistakes, our questions, our defilement of your countries tongue, and well, for everything you help us smile about.

Three cheers for our Translator, Culture-guy, and Style Police, Nathavut Wongvilaikul (or VUT!)

The Mission Trip

... I totally forgot about this, and it's perhaps one of the more important bits about the Mission trip!

As the itinary shows now, we'll be arriving in Bangkok on the 4th of January, and during the course of the trip we will be working with Missionaries in Chiang Mai, and we may go up to the northern border to the little town called Fang (however you may want to pronounce it) to meet chinese refugees. The trip ends on the 24th of January.

This will also be updated as time goes by and more things are confirmed.

On a side note, visit the OCF Carlton forums and do please contribute, especially if you signed up for an account.

Sawadikhrap (kah)

You've reached the official blog for the OCF Carlton and OMF Australia joint venture short mission trip to Thailand at the beginning of 2006.

And as is, I don't really know what to say.
